Meet the Teacher!

My name is Sarah Gordon. I grew up in Columbus, GA where I graduated from Columbus High School. From there, I moved to Tuscaloosa, AL where I graduated from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education (K-6). This is my second year of teaching, and I can't imagine a better place to be than Oliver! I am currently in the process of obtaining my M.Ed at Troy University. I love watching football, traveling, being outdoors, and hanging with my dog, Lulu. My goal as an educator is to instill a lifelong passion of learning in your child by creating a nurturing learning environment where they can thrive. Teaching is truly a passion of mine, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year!

Upcoming Field Trip

Parents,

Our first field trip is just around the corner! Desoto Caverns is going to be an AWESOME field trip. Please return the signed permission slip and $20 with your child ASAP! The last day I will accept money is next Tuesday (Oct. 1). The $20 includes your child's ticket (guided cavern tour, panning for gold, and maze) as well as bus money.

Again, we will not arrive back at the school until 5:00 pm. Therefore, make arrangements to have your child picked up on time!

Please contact me with any questions!

Ms. Gordon

Clue cards were placed throughout the room and hallway. Students worked with their partners to find the answers to their questions.

Remembering 9/11

With the anniversary of September 11th quickly approaching, we spent time during social studies talking and learning about what happened on that terrible day.
As you can tell, my students had some excellent questions about the topic. We created a KWL chart (what you know, what you want to know, what you've learned). I could barely fit their thoughts on the board! :)
Busy at work on our class 9/11 memorial
